A list of cool backpacks and the outfits that I think would go nicely with them.https://t.co/AH9worfcbY
Please note this list is done without regard to price. The only measure is coolness. Some of these can be had for cheaper on eBay.
Also, please don’t use backpacks with suits or sport coats. You risk ruining the shoulder line.
And Wander. Cool technical backpacks, some with a big zip across the front for easy access to things at the bottom of your bag. Would look great with modern outdoor gear, such as waterproof parkas, beanies, chunky sweaters, hiking boots, etc. Look like a cool hiker.
Willis & Geiger. This is an old, now defunct brand, but you can find their backpacks on eBay. Kind of adventurer style with some military-inspired detailing. Would use with workwear outfits like raw denim jeans, trucker jackets, service boots, etc.
Ralph Lauren Yosemite. Inspired by 1970s designs. Made with thick cowhide, felt-backed straps, and oxidized metal trims. Great for any outfit that takes after 1970s hiking style. Think: Sierra Designs 60/40 parkas, corduroy pants, chunky turtlenecks, Danner boots, etc.
You can find that RL bag on eBay, but it’s expensive. On the upside, you can also score original 1970s backpacks on eBay for less. Look up Gerry, Alp Sport, Class 5, Holubar, and Alpine Design. Use with other cool styles from that era, like Rocky Mountain Featherbed jackets
Epperson Mountaineering. Also inspired by 1970s hiking designs. Comes in silly and serious colors. What to wear with it? Why, Monitaly, of course! Yuki Matsuda designs both lines. They’re fun, offbeat takes on classics for people with a sense of humor about themselves.
Master Piece. A Japanese brand that specializes in “modern urban backpacks.” Honestly, you can use them with anything, as they’re just cool, middle-of-the-road designs that don’t look too generic. I personally like the waterproof ones bc sometimes I carry my laptop in the rain
Brook England Pickwick. Rolltop bag with a giant compartment. Small pocket at the bottom for bike locks (or things you need easy access to). Doubles as a great carry-on bag for travel bc you can stuff so much in it. Goes with modern, minimalist casualwear. Get the 26L size
Auralee x Aeta. You are a Belgian artist with deep thoughts and a stack of rare architecture magazines. You listen to lo-fi proto-dream-pop instrumentals by Deux Filles. You have a lot of plants at home, and when you leave the house, you wear Lemaire and use this backpack.
F/CE. You like techwear and streetwear. You read Hypebeast. Your sneakers look like everyone else’s, but yours have a tiny, indiscernible detail that indicates they’re actually limited edition from Japan. You like how these bags are useful for travel.
DSPTCH. You mostly wear jeans, hoodies, and T-shirts. You’re into fitness, and you may or may not have one of those black wedding rings. You like how these ballistic nylon backpacks are inspired by military designs. They feel tough, like you.
Visvim. You dress like John Mayer and wear a lot of Native American jewelry. This backpack is stupid expensive, but it doesn’t matter because you have a lot money. You secretly wish you were Hiroki Nakamura.
